The Rwenzori range, straddling the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, is one of Africa's least visited and most spectacular trekking destinations. Ptolemy called them the Mountains of the Moon, and the range still carries equatorial glaciers. This itinerary follows the Central Circuit to Margherita Peak base camp territory, through bogs, bamboo forest, and giant heather zones.
