9-Day Northern Circuit Kilimanjaro Climb

Climb to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then branch north onto the quiet, rarely-used Northern Circuit toward Moir Hut.

Traverse wide-open alpine desert on the mountain's remote northern slopes, with barely another climber in sight.

Continue along the Northern Circuit's high ridges, with views stretching toward Kenya on a clear day.

Move onto the mountain's eastern slopes at School Hut, positioned for a shorter summit night than most other routes.

Set off for the summit, pass Stella Point at sunrise, reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), then descend all the way to Mweka Camp.

A final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate, where successful climbers collect their summit certificate.
