Health notes
Consult a doctor if you have heart, lung, or blood pressure conditions. Altitude affects everyone differently regardless of fitness.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Marangu Gate, where registration and park formalities will be completed. The trek begins through the beautiful montane rainforest. The trail is surrounded by lush vegetation, ancient trees, and the sounds of tropical birds. Along the way, you may have the opportunity to see monkeys and other forest wildlife. After several hours of steady hiking, you will arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.

After breakfast, you will leave the rainforest behind and continue through the beautiful moorland zone. The landscape gradually opens up, providing spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. On a clear day, you may enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks, two of Kilimanjaro’s major volcanic cones. The trail continues steadily uphill until you reach Horombo Hut, your home for the night.

DAY 3: You will take a shorter hike toward the higher areas around Horombo, allowing your body to adapt to the increasing altitude without sleeping at a significantly higher elevation. The exact acclimatization route may vary depending on weather, trail conditions, and the guide’s assessment. You will return to Horombo Hut for lunch, relaxation, and preparation for the summit stages. Important: Drink plenty of water, walk slowly, and communicate with your mountain guide if you experience any symptoms of altitude sickness.

This is the summit day and the most challenging stage of your Kilimanjaro adventure. You will wake around midnight, have a light snack, and begin trekking in darkness toward the summit. The climb to Gilman’s Point (5,681 m) is steep and demanding, with the trail consisting largely of loose volcanic rock and steep switchbacks. From Gilman’s Point, you will continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point (5,739 m) and then proceed toward the ultimate destination: UHURU PEAK – 5,895 METRES Standing at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, is an unforgettable achievement. You will have time for photographs and to celebrate your success, weather permitting. Afterwards, you will begin the descent toward Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut. This will be a long and physically demanding day, but reaching the summit makes every step worthwhile.
