The 5 Days Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour is one of the most popular ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a direct and scenic route to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is famous for its relatively gradual trails and mountain huts, where trekkers sleep in dormitory-style accommodation rather than tents. The route passes through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and the Arctic summit zone before reaching the highest point in Africa.

Your adventure begins with a morning transfer from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate. After registration and meeting your mountain crew, begin hiking through the beautiful rainforest. The trail is surrounded by tall trees, tropical vegetation, and birdlife. After approximately 4–5 hours of hiking, arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.
After breakfast, continue your climb from Mandara through the rainforest before entering the open moorland zone. You will enjoy views of the surrounding landscape and, on clear days, Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Continue at a steady pace toward Horombo Hut, where you will have dinner and rest for the night
After breakfast, leave Horombo and continue toward Kibo Hut. The landscape changes from moorland to alpine desert as vegetation becomes increasingly sparse. You will cross the Saddle, a high-altitude area between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, have dinner, and rest early in preparation for the midnight summit attempt.
Your summit day begins around midnight. Trek slowly through the darkness toward Gilman's Point and continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 m. Celebrate your achievement and take photographs at the summit before beginning the descent to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch. Continue down to Horombo Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful moorland and rainforest toward Marangu Gate. At the gate, complete the park exit procedures and receive your summit certificate if applicable. Meet your vehicle and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, where you can relax after your Kilimanjaro adventure.
