Huts were a nice touch after long days
Glad I did not have to pitch a tent after summit night. Marangu is tough but doable.

The Marangu route is the oldest and only route up Kilimanjaro with sleeping huts instead of tents, a welcome comfort after long days of walking. It approaches the summit from the southeast, offering a more gradual ascent profile in its early stages, though the final summit night is just as demanding as any other route. This makes it a popular choice for trekkers who prefer a bed and a roof each night on the mountain.
$1,950Per person
A gentle walk through rainforest to the first hut, about 8 km.
The forest opens into moorland with views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

A short acclimatization walk toward Zebra Rocks and back, resting at altitude before continuing higher.
Crossing the alpine desert saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to the final base camp.
Midnight start for the summit push, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) by sunrise, then a long descent back to Horombo.

Final descent through the forest, certificates awarded at the gate.
Starts in Moshi, ends in Moshi.
