Our top pick for reaching the summit. Eight unhurried days up the wild, scenic Lemosho Route, with Kilimanjaro's best acclimatisation profile and the highest success rates. The Lemosho route is prized for its excellent acclimatisation profile, spectacular scenery and quieter trails. Over eight days this camping climb starts on the western side of the mountain, crosses the broad Shira Plateau, and joins the southern circuit past the Lava Tower, Barranco, Karanga and Barafu. A summit attempt aims for Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), followed by a descent on the Mweka route. The extra day on the mountain allows more time to acclimatize; reaching the summit depends on your acclimatization, fitness and the conditions on the day.
