Your Tanzania Big Five safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy your first exciting game drive through landscapes of giant baobab trees, open savannah and riverine woodland. Look out for large elephant families, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and predators such as lions and leopards. Tarangire is particularly renowned for its elephant concentrations and diverse wildlife habitats. After your game drive, continue to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, leave Tarangire and travel towards the legendary Serengeti National Park. The journey takes you through the beautiful Ngorongoro highlands before reaching the endless plain Enjoy wildlife viewing along the way, searching for lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and other animals. Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
Spend a full day exploring the spectacular Serengeti. Begin with an early-morning game drive, when wildlife is often active, followed by continued exploration of the park's wildlife-rich plains. The Serengeti offers excellent opportunities to spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and large herds of grazing animals. Depending on the season, your safari may also encounter the famous wildebeest migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Enjoy another full day in the Serengeti, giving you more time to explore different areas and improve your chances of exceptional wildlife sightings. Your guide will track animal movements and take you to the best available wildlife areas. This additional day allows for a relaxed safari experience and more opportunities to photograph predators, elephant herds, buffalo and the abundant wildlife of the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp.
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive as you leave the Serengeti. Continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with opportunities for wildlife viewing during the journey. Arrive at your lodge or camp near the Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the spectacular scenery of the highlands. Dinner and overnight near Ngorongoro.
After an early breakfast, descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive. The crater is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife and is one of the best places in Tanzania to search for the Big Five, particularly the rare black rhinos Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by spectacular scenery before continuing your game drive. Later, ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha, where your unforgettable 6-day Tanzania Big Five Safari comes to an end.
