Welcome to Tanzania! On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. After your journey, you can settle in, relax and enjoy your first evening in Tanzania. If you arrive early enough, we can arrange a short safari briefing with your guide so you know what to expect during the coming days. Activities: Airport pickup, transfer to Arusha and safari briefing. Environment: Arusha enjoys a relatively mild highland climate, with green surroundings and possible views of Mount Meru on clear days.
After breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park. This is where the safari really begins. As we enter the park, you will see the landscape open into savannah, acacia woodland and areas dotted with impressive baobab trees. We spend the day exploring the park in our 4x4 safari vehicle. Tarangire is especially known for its elephants, but we will also look for giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, antelope and predators such as lions. Wildlife sightings vary, so we take our time and follow the areas where our guide finds the best activity. We stop for a picnic lunch at a designated site before continuing our afternoon game drive. Later, we leave the park and travel to Karatu, where you can relax and enjoy dinner. Game-drive duration: Approximately 5–7 hours, including breaks for lunch and wildlife viewing. Environment: Dry savannah, baobab trees, acacia woodland and seasonal wetlands. It can be hot and dusty during the day, so a hat, sunscreen and drinking water are useful.
After an early breakfast, we travel through the Ngorongoro highlands towards Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you will see the scenery change from cultivated highlands and forested slopes to the wide-open plains of the Serengeti. After entering the park, we begin our game drive towards the central Serengeti. Keep your camera ready as we look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and, with luck, lions, cheetahs and leopards. The journey itself can be rewarding because wildlife may appear along the route. We continue towards Osero Serengeti Tented Camp, our accommodation for the next two nights. After check-in, enjoy dinner and the peaceful atmosphere of the African bush. Game-drive duration: Approximately 2–4 hours of wildlife viewing, depending on arrival time and road conditions. Environment: Open grasslands, rocky kopjes and acacia-dotted plains. Days may be warm, while early mornings and evenings can be cool.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti. We leave after an early breakfast, when temperatures are cooler and many animals are active. Your guide will choose the day's route based on recent sightings and the conditions in the park. We explore different areas of the central Serengeti, searching for lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest. With luck, we may also spot a leopard resting in a tree or a cheetah scanning the plains. The Serengeti is famous for the Great Migration, but the location of the herds changes throughout the year. We enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area and continue our afternoon game drive before returning to camp. In the evening, relax, share stories from the day and enjoy dinner at Osero. Game-drive duration: Approximately 6–8 hours in total, including breaks for meals and rest. Environment: Vast grasslands, rocky outcrops, river valleys and scattered trees. The weather can be sunny and warm during the day, with cooler conditions after sunset.
After breakfast, we leave the Serengeti and travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Depending on the route and conditions, there may be opportunities to see wildlife along the way. Our main experience is a game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. After descending to the crater floor, we explore its grasslands, woodland and wetland areas in search of wildlife. The crater is an excellent place to look for elephants, buffalo and lions, and we may be fortunate enough to see the endangered black rhino. Leopards are present in the wider ecosystem but are more difficult to spot. We enjoy a picnic lunch at an authorised site and continue our crater exploration before ascending and travelling to Arusha for our final overnight stay. This is a long day, so we start early and allow flexibility for driving conditions and wildlife sightings.
After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, we will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport or arrange a drop-off at another agreed location. As we travel back, you can look back on the wildlife and landscapes experienced during your safari, from Tarangire's baobab trees to the endless Serengeti plains and the remarkable Ngorongoro Crater. Thank you for travelling with Kiwia Africa Tours. We hope you leave Tanzania with wonderful memories and that we welcome you back again in the future.
