Best single day of our trip
We only had one spare day in Arusha and this was perfect. Counted over 60 elephants before lunch. Guide was patient with our five year old and turned the day into a game for her.

If you are short on time, Tarangire delivers more wildlife per hour than almost anywhere else in northern Tanzania. Just two hours from Arusha, the park is famous for elephant herds that can number over a hundred, and for its landscape of ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old. In the dry season (June to October) the Tarangire River becomes the only water source for miles, drawing elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and the predators that follow them. This is a private full-day trip in a pop-up roof 4x4 with a professional guide, park fees and picnic lunch included.
Pick-up from your Arusha hotel at 6:30 AM with a two hour drive to the park gate. Morning game drive along the Tarangire River where elephant families come to drink and bathe. Picnic lunch at a viewpoint overlooking the river valley, often with vervet monkeys watching closely. Afternoon loop through the baobab-studded southern circuit looking for lions, leopards, and the park's 550 recorded bird species. Depart the park around 5:00 PM, back in Arusha by 7:00 PM.
