About us

Afrika Roots Safari Company is a locally owned Tanzanian tour operator built from a shared love for the country we call home. Our story began with a group of friends who grew up together in a small village in Tanzania, along with one American who fell in love with Tanzania, its people, wildlife, and way of life. Today, our team brings more than 40 years of combined experience in tourism and safari operations. Our experienced local guides have backgrounds in wildlife management, professional tour guiding, and conservation, and most importantly, they genuinely love sharing their home with others. We specialize in private, customized journeys throughout Tanzania. From the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and the Great Migration to cultural experiences, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, we build each trip around the people traveling with us rather than offering a one-size-fits-all experience. What makes Afrika Roots different is how personal we keep it. Our guests are welcomed like family, and we want them to leave knowing more than which animals they saw. We want them to know the people, culture, landscapes, stories, and everyday Tanzania that make this country so special. Responsible tourism is also at the heart of what we do. We prioritize local employment and partnerships and work with locally owned and environmentally conscious businesses whenever possible. A portion of every safari directly supports vulnerable children at Christ Hope Orphanage and Home for Boys and Girls, helping provide a safe home, education, daily care, and opportunities for their future.
